I can’t tell you how important the choices you make today will impact the rest of your lives. My pastor of my church when I was a kid would always say, “Make smart choices young people.” I’d listen, but never really took it to heart until I got much older, made a lot of mistakes and someone read a poem to a large audience.

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”
~ Lao Tzu

The poem (#2) that was read when I was sitting unfocused in a college auditorium listening to a guest speaker from the east coast wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. The allure was that he had a PhD and was Black. For me, this was one of my first times getting to see a Black PhD in person, so I wanted to meet him. In other words, it was pretty epic.

Throughout his speech, he began to lose me. In my inpatient and immature self, I almost missed my blessing with his closing statements of poem #2. When he read each line pausing one after the other, I was completely zoned in on him. Everything I thought I ignored made sense, because I believe our thoughts possess power over our lives- but it takes us making the choice to act on it.

Every choice matters. Yes, every single one of them. Don’t take any of them for granted. Some choices only come once in a lifetime, so make the right choice.

I write this because my business is personal because this service is for the advancement of all humanity. My failures and successes are for your gain. No strings attached.
