Map My Run
I love the mobile application, Map My Run. As a rejuvenated runner in training, the app is pretty cool. Map My Run is a great tool that gives you all the basic information a runner would need for free. Yes, for free.
It’s really pretty simple to use. The app’s user-friendly ability allows you to ‘swipe’ to start a workout and calculates your GPS position, speed, and mile times. You can do heart rate if you upgraded to the premium account, but I’m ok. My time is still pretty high (big laugh), and it’s kicking my butt.
For any amateurs who want to get out there and exercise, this is fairly basic. As you can see in this picture, I used it a few times before my October marathon in 2013. To my knowledge, there wasn’t a Fitbit or Apple Watch; and I didn’t want to pay for a Garmin, Nike Running Watch or anything else I couldn’t afford. Map My Run was free and easy to use.
As I’ve heard the saying, “You won’t regret a workout.” Map My Run ensures that your hard work isn’t forgotten, especially after you delete the app and switch phones. Honestly, I’m surprised they still have this data. The workup/training was a lot of pain for my first marathon, and I’m happy to have these memories when I train moving forward.
